unless you're placebo biased and/or doing quick A/B 2 ohms it's not an issue and i doubt that you could pass a blind test with a 100% success rate.Ībout the bass i did direct comparisons between my iPhone 6 and an iBasso DX100 and Fiio X5 and bass weight was about the same. (Doing the math is 2 decibels airier which you could offset easily with the white filter) but. When i use the iBasso T3 amp (Z=0`3 Ohms) the SE846 are slightly airier. I'm not a fan of LED-lit tube amps in general, but Jim really did a great job with the FSH.Dunno about iPhone 6s but iPhone 6 has 2.2 ohms of output impedance. Jim Fosgate called it a "Panorama Control" and it was an interesting and well-executed gimmick. Unlike the obscene bloat or wub-wub-wub that many bass boost circuits bring into the equation, the FSH bass boost is tight and controlled.Īs an aside, the FSH also has a well implemented hardware surround feature. Personally, the best implementation of a physical bass boost feature I have heard in a high end amp is the Fosgate Signature Headphone Amp, which has a bass boost switch that you can toggle between off / min / max. But you are right that none of them are truly "desktop" amps.
Off the top of my head, iFi iCAN, Oppo HA2SE, and a bunch of Fiios. While many audiophiles (like me) dont really want a bass boost options because there are other, better ways to enhance low end when listening, I should point out that there are plenty of amps with a bass boost feature.
